The History of Ewelme Cricket Club

This section will be expanded in due course, but here's some basic info.

The club was formed in 1933. Evidence of this is shown in the minutes from the 1937 AGM, held on Thursday 4th May, which states that it is "The 5th Annual General Meeting". However, there is also annicdotal evidence that cricket was played in Ewelme long before the formation of the Cricket Club.

Click here to read the minutes from 1937, they are in PDF form. We have been able to display these minutes with the kind permission of the Historical Archive of Ewelme Society.

Over recent years the club has been a very relaxed organisation, so relaxed in fact that we can't actually find any scorecards from before 2005. This is disappointing, and it means that the info containbed on this web site is only from that date onwards

As can be found elsewhere on this site, in 2007 the Parish Council took the decision to stop their involvement in the maintenance of the cricket pitch. This meant that the club had to become a bit more serious and find some money to pay to keep ourselves going. With lots of help from local individuals and companies we managed to secure enough money to see us through the 2007 season.
