Ewelme Cricket Club News

10/1/2007 - Double Wicket Competition
Another fun day was had by all, Andy Climpson and David Timms ran out winners, beating Ralf and Richard in the final by 1 run!
Last times champs were put to the sword in the first round, beaten by Andy and David and ending up with a record negative score.
9/24/2007 - Ewelme vs Harwell
After weeks of defeat we won our final game of the season at home to Harwell by 63 runs.
Batting first we posted our highest score of the season, 197 all out. Andy Glasson top scored with 37 and a number of others chipped in with runs as well.
The bowling was tight and we took wickets regularly enough. Reg, Adam and Ralf finished with two apiece.

9/17/2007 - Ewelme vs Ibstone
We were hoping Ibstone would bring a side more likely to give us a decent game rather than the one that thrashed us at their place.
Alas, it was not to be. They had plenty of good batting and scored 181-7, and then plenty of good bowling to bowl us out for 126!

9/3/2007 - Ewelme vs Hambleden
Another week, another defeat. This time by 6 wickets to Hambleden. We batted first and only managed 116-4, a slowish opening partnership meaning we didn't push on for a bigger score.
Hambleden reached their target with 7 overs to go for the loss of 4 wickets. Dave Greenaway took two good slip catches, Ross was the pick of the bowlers taking 2 wickets.

8/28/2007 - Cuxham vs Ewelme
Another defeat this week, this time by 9 wickets. Ewelme won the toss, batted first and only managed to score 79.
Cuxham knocked them off fairly easily inside 19 overs. So off to the pub is was, for the now infamous Cider and Beer Extravaganza that went into the very early hours!!

8/20/2007 - Harwell vs Ewelme
This was another match that had to be abandoned halfway through due to the rain. The weather has so far claimed 6 matches this season! However, nobody was that surprised that we didn't finish this one, the weather was gloomy when we turned up and the forecast wasn't great either.
Harwell won the toss and electd to bowl. After a few overs we had to come off due to the rain, and then three oers later we had to stop again, so we took tea. We started again for the third time and reached 139-8 at the end of our 35 overs.
During the break between innings the captains decided that it was getting too dark and wet to continue so that was the end of that. We made it back to the Hut for Happy Hour.

8/13/2007 - Hambledon vs Ewelme
We were convincingly beaten in this game by 8 wickets. Having been put into bat we only managed to reach 100, Hambledon scoring the runs using only half their 40 overs.

8/6/2007 - Ewelme vs Wallingford Round Table
A nice relaxed game on a lovely sunny day. No toss was made, WRT were asked to choose, and they bowled first. Ewelme scored 174-9, Andy Glasson being the star scoring his first ever 50.
WRT scored 132 all out in their innings, Andy Glasson took 3 wickets, Chris took 3 as well.

7/30/2007 - Ewelme vs Cuxham
A damp pitch made for interesting playing conditions. Ewelme won the toss and batted first but could only manage 75 runs in their 35 overs.
Cuxham changed their batting order around a bit and scored the runs with the loss of 6 wickets in 31 overs.

7/23/2007 - Ibstone vs Ewelme
Ibstone fielded what some would describe as a strong eleven, others might describe it was a Saturday First XI! After winning the toss, Ibstone decided to bat and scored an impressive 238-2. We did ourselves no favours however putting down 6 catches, their century maker was dropped when he was on 4.
Ewelme were then bowled out for 148, Chris top scoring with 37, Ian close behind with 32.
